How Far Along Are You?
24 Weeks & 6 Days
How Big is Baby?
This week Hazel is the size of a cantaloupe. She is approximately 12 inches long and 1 pound. How can she already be a pound? 😮
Total Weight Gain
13 pounds (126lbs)
How Are You Sleeping?
Sleeping is surprisingly going really well. I never caved on a getting a pregnancy pillow. I just can’t get over how big and bulky they are. But so far, falling asleep hasn’t been as difficult as everyone made it out to be – which is a relief! As long as I don’t have a really full stomach from eating too much and sleep on my side, I sleep just fine.
Any Food Cravings?
The past couple days I have been all about the sugar. Begging Jeremiah to pick up rice krispie treats and cheesecake at the store and late night runs for ice cream.
Any Food Aversions?
Nope.
How are Your Clothes Fitting?
Truthfully, I went ahead and bought a handful of maternity shirts and a few dresses back in the first trimester. I felt like my stomach grew enough that my normal shirts didn’t look good anymore. So besides the maternity shirts, I thrifted some large and extra-large shirts to tide me over until I actually had a belly. Well now I actually have a belly! Yay! It’s so fun to fill out the cute, cinched shirts, but my jeans are a whole other story. I have been using a belly band, but that is beyond uncomfortable. I think it might be time to invest in a couple pairs of maternity jeans for the next few months.
Any Symptoms?
Stretchmarks:Â Besides the few marks I noticed a few weeks ago, I haven’t noticed anymore. I’ve just been continually using the belly butter and drinking as much water as I can stomach.
Hunger:Â I am hungry all the time, but I feel like my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I will stuff my face to my heart’s content and then feel stuffed to the brim. Working on pacing myself.
Heartburn:Â Giving up on this subsiding. Bring on the battle heartburn.
Skin:Â I have one breakout right now… right on the tip on my nose. When it’s gone, hopefully I can avoid any new ones.
Sore Breasts:Â The soreness comes and goes.
Cramps:Â Only a few charley horses in my foot. It’s rare and as soon as I walk on it, it goes away.
Back Pain:Â I don’t expect this pain to subside either. My job requires me to sit for long periods of time – I take breaks, but they don’t make much of a difference. One of my goals is to stretch and walk more, so we will see if that helps.
Nesting:Â This is a current big one. This past weekend, Jeremiah and I went on a purging frenzy. We went through our whole closet, sorting through boxes and boxes of stuff we had practically not even thought about since we moved in. Jeremiah managed to empty four storage boxes!! We rearranged the closet to make more space and then moved our dresser to the other side of the room to begin clearing out the side we are setting up for Hazel. We still have a bit more work to do, but I am so ready to set up her little nursery area!!
Any Baby Movement?
Y’all, we FINALLY felt some subtle baby movement!!!! It was so sweet and exciting. She likes to squirm around when I’m trying to go to sleep or just reading on the couch. It’s so funny – almost every time she starts to move when Jeremiah is around, I will immediately place his hand on my stomach and she will just stop. Luckily, he has felt her little flutters a few times.
What Are You Most Looking Forward To?
We are still waiting for that first real kick, but being able to feel some movement has made the wait so much more bearable! Besides being anxious and excited for more and more movement, I am definitely ready for our next ultrasound! Getting to see our baby girl the first two times was incredible, but this time she will look even more like the little babe she will be when she arrives.
