December Recap

I’m always worn out by the end of the year. Last week I lost my beloved Nana, so Christmas this year was bittersweet being Hazel’s first Christmas, but also the first Christmas without my Nana. It’s been a very busy and emotionally charged month and I am ready for some calm. Even though December was a difficult month, but was also very fun with the lights and celebration!

Goals

Rebuild My Faith

Still not making much progress here. I’m kind of a stand still.

I am going to count this as a win for this month – I posted five times and that is the most I have done in a few months. The passion just isn’t there right now, but I am proud to at least get one post a week!

Yes! Jeremiah took me to downtown Grapevine to watch It’s a Wonderful Life in an old timey movie theater.

November Recap

By November, I am ready for fall to be over, so I am happy to report that it finally is – well in my book.

Goals

Rebuild My Faith

Still looking for a spark here. Right now the task is feeling very daunting and a bit overwhelming. With Christmas quickly approaching, I have found myself pondering the meaning of the holiday as well as thinking about how we will teach Hazel to celebrate, so a lot of thanking God for sending his son.

Birth Our Baby Naturally

Save More, Budget Better

So this is a yes, but also a so/so. We are still working on perfecting our budget and sticking to its confines, but we are saving quite a bit more. At the moment, we are saving in one area only to spend it in another, but we really are improving tremendously!

Exercise

Big fat zero.

Meal Plan & Cook At Home More

Happy to put a yes here! Meal planning is becoming more of a habit; sticking to the plan is still a work in progress, but we saved so much money in the past two weeks by not eating out. A week ago, we were $100 under budget which has us wondering who we are LOL!

Monthly Family Meetings

Not really, more like quick convos on the important stuff.

Yes! I finished the book on baby led weaning and have been making decent progress on Jodi Picoult’s latest book.

Still lacking here. I haven’t really been feeling very passionate. I have lots of drafts up, but the words and thoughts just aren’t flowing. I did write more than last month, so there’s that.

Not this month.

October Recap

Sorry I have been so absent, but life happens…

Goals

Rebuild My Faith

I was just praying about this the other day. I feel like my relationship with God has really taken a backseat since having Hazel and that makes me really really frustrated since I felt like I was closest to Him right before she was born. My priorities have been really backward, because I spend all moments thinking about her, all day taking care of her, and so by the time she goes to sleep I selfishly just want to relax and watch tv or read a book or take a bath instead of doing something to grow my faith.

Ever since our small group imploded, I have been irritated about having to find a new group. We started going to another one, but something just isn’t clicking and I have no desire to go and I will use any excuse to stay home. Our previous small group was such a great thing and I’m still not over how everything went down or the feeling that nobody cares and has just forgotten me.

On a different note, I did take a big step and signed up to serve in the Kid’s Ministry. In high school, I always served in Kids’ Ministry through multiple different roles, but stopped when I went off to college and I have really missed it. So starting this Sunday, I will be checking kids and families in and I am really really excited about it!

Birth Our Baby Naturally

Save More, Budget Better

Kind of.

Side Note: Jeremiah and I started attending a financial peace class and have made the decision to take strides to pay off our debt. In order to do that, you have to have a good budget. I have been getting the kinks ironed out of our budget over the past year and we still have a lot of work to do, but this class has definitely helped! So I’m the worst at sticking to the budget when I get lazy, but our goal is to save X amount for an emergency fund and then focus the rest of our leftover funds on debt.

Exercise

I exercised one time this month – last Friday, so I’ll give myself a 1% here.

Meal Plan & Cook At Home More

Although we did eat out, I can finally smack a big fat YES under this goal. For this month, I seriously meal planned and I haven’t exactly made the meal I planned for each night, but we have eaten at home so so much more than usual and we are trying new recipes we never would have before (I’m looking at you Paleo)… we aren’t sticking to it exactly, but we are eating fresher and healthier and it makes me really happy and proud of myself!

Monthly Family Meetings

More like late-night family catch-up chats. We’ll get there.

Yes!!! Because I actually got to read.

Monthly Planned Date Night

A big yes to this one too! Back in September, I marked off last Saturday in our calendar as a spooky date night. Jeremiah made sure to ask off and we had a blast. We missed our baby, but we reminded each other it’s good to take care of the marriage too!

August Recap

August is over… finally!

Goals

Rebuild My Faith

This has stalled.

Birth Our Baby Naturally

Save More, Budget Better

So Jeremiah and I signed up for a financial peace class and we are SO EXCITED! I have a hard time, because I like spending money just as much as I like saving money. I was so good at saving when were saving for the house, but now that we have it, there is just so much I want to buy and do, so saving has stalled. I think this class will be so beneficial for us!

Exercise

Failed.

Meal Plan & Cook At Home More

I had one real successful week – I cooked at home four nights in a row and gave up Dr Pepper for four days in a row – which is HUGE! Other than that, I planned two weeks of meals, but we only did one week successfully.

Monthly Family Meetings

Nope.
