February Recap

Another month over and we are one twenty-eight days closer to warmer weather and our baby girl!

At the end of every month, I like to recap what I read, watched, and did to reach my goals as well as provide pregnancy and travel updates.

Rebuild My Faith

This is still a work-in-progress, but I am feeling so good about my progress! God worked wonders in my heart during January regarding healing for my miscarriage and this month we focused on being obedient and God showed us how He provides. It has been really incredible! I am still attending the small group and church every week as well as trying to read my Bible daily and keep prayer a constant part of my day.

Birth Our Baby Naturally

Y’all, it is getting real! Jeremiah and I started childbirth classes a couple weeks ago, we are going to the midwife very regularly, and I am reading everything I can get my hands on related to birth and motherhood. So I learned a lot about relaxation + birth from the Hypnobirthing method, am loving these positive natural birth stories from Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth, and am glad to have some helpful tips for breastfeeding from The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding.

Save More, Budget Better

This month was one for budgeting, but not necessarily a great one for saving. When you plan to birth a baby the uncommon way, you have to pay a lot of fees up front – typically by 36 weeks, so we have been budgeting and paying on baby stuff.

Nothing drastic, but I have started doing some pregnancy/birth stretches, so I think that counts. I also walk up and down the stairs a few times a day and take the dog for a walk a few times a week.

Meal Plan & Cook At Home More

I am still getting used to meal planning, but I rocked it at the beginning of the month. I would plan out our meals – on nights where we are both home – and then order my groceries through the Walmart App and pick them up. This was super helpful in not buying a lot of unnecessary food that we don’t eat or that doesn’t make anything. I fell down on the job towards the end of the month, but I am ready to get back to it!

This goal is going really well! So far, I have completed two books per month and I am loving this reading kick that I am on right now!

Buy A House

We met with our realtor and are now working on finding a lender.

Write Often

I am so proud of myself for producing so much content and actually enjoying it!

Books Read
  • Crazy Cool Family
  • Hypnobirthing: The Mongan Method – review coming soon
  • Truly Madly Guilty

I was really excited to read Truly Madly Guilty and I thought about buying it every time I went to the bookstore, but once I finally started, I was bored to tears. It is one of those books that just cannot hold my attention and I have to challenge myself to read a few pages here and there. It is supposed to be suspenseful, but I just find it a confusing and boring. The changing of perspectives is done horribly and the characters are not very exciting or interesting. I am really, really considering giving up and adding it to my very short list of books I did not finish.

  • Anxious For Nothing

I am reading this book alongside the other women in my small group. We are reading one chapter a week, so my progress has been really slow, but I am doing my best to take it one chapter at a time to stay with the group. So far, I am really enjoying it. Max Lucado has a strong voice and I enjoy his humor.

  • The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding

I have been trying to get my hands on as many pregnancy, birth, and motherhood books as I can in the short time I have left until the baby gets here. I found this one – seriously discounted – at Half Price Books, so I just decided to give it a shot. Mine is very obviously an older version, but I think it’s okay, because breastfeeding hasn’t changed too much in the last twenty or so years. I was excited to read about breastfeeding, because it is one of the parts of motherhood I am most nervous about, because of all the rough stories I have heard from other mothers. This book is very positive, but a bit redundant.

  • Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth

I just picked up this book a few days ago and already love it! The first part is full of positive natural birth stories that I just cannot get enough of!

Shows Watched
  • Bones
  • The Catch
  • Friends
  • America’s Next Top Model – seasons 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8
Movies Watched

Jeremiah and I took a little road trip – if you can even call it that – to Fort Worth, TX to have a simple and local babymoon. We stayed at an adorable Airbnb apartment with the most perfect bathtub. Our evening was filled with pizza, records, relaxation, and just spending some precious uninterrupted time together!

Overall, February was a great month full of activities and growth – in more way than one 😉 I am so excited to get March underway, because I have so much to do in preparation for our new addition.
